Sharpen Your Pencils and Get Started!!!
I believe that it is important for teachers to know what and how their students are thinking when they are not necessarily quizzing them or giving a test. At the beginning of the day, my students will come into class and work on an activity that I have provided for them in their folders. The activity will not be graded, but will serve as a guide for me to check their understanding of what is going on in class. Students can make teachers believe they know what is going on, but it is the teacher's responsibility to follow up on students so that everyone is learning to their best of their ability.
